White background maker for product photos

Free. Runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Add a product photo and this free tool makes the background white (#FFFFFF), centers the product at the size you choose and exports a marketplace-ready JPG or a transparent PNG. The background is removed by an AI model that runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.

How to make a background white

  1. Add your photo. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP into the tool, or pick one from your device. A photo with the whole product in frame works best.
  2. Select Remove background. The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 100 MB) and saves it, so later photos start straight away. With WebGPU the cutout takes a few seconds; on the processor alone it can take up to a minute on older devices.
  3. Choose the look. Pick white (#FFFFFF), transparent or any color, a square or the original ratio, and how much of the frame the product fills. Drag across the preview to compare the result with the original.
  4. Download. Choose 1,000 to 3,000 px on the longest side. White and color backgrounds save as JPG; a transparent background saves as PNG.

The marketplace presets set the background, canvas, fill and size for an Amazon, Walmart or Google Shopping main image in one click. You can still change any setting afterwards.

Need the cutout on a transparent background for a design instead? The background remover is the same tool opened on a transparent background, with the PNG as the first download.

White background rules for Amazon, Walmart and Google Shopping

Most marketplaces want the main image on white, but the details differ:

MarketplaceBackgroundProduct in the frameImage size
Amazon (main image)Pure white, RGB 255, 255, 255The product fills 85% of the image500 to 10,000 px on the longest side; 1,000 px or more enables zoom
Walmart (main image)Seamless white, 255/255/255 RGBCrop the item as close as possible to the frame2200 x 2200 px, square; at least 1500 x 1500 px for zoom
Google Merchant CenterSolid white or transparentNo less than 75% and no more than 90% of the imageAbout 1500 x 1500 px or more recommended; a 500 x 500 px minimum is announced from January 31, 2027

A few details that catch sellers out:

  • Do not enlarge small photos. Amazon does not want small images artificially enlarged, and Walmart does not want smaller images resized to fill space. The tool warns you when an export size would enlarge your photo.
  • Transparent is not white. Amazon and Walmart main images must be on white, so use the white JPG for those. Google Merchant Center accepts transparent backgrounds, but light-colored products on a transparent background may be shown against black.
  • Shadows add gray. The optional drop shadow puts gray pixels around the product, so the background is no longer pure white everywhere. Leave it off for main images.
  • Keep the whole product in the frame. An Amazon main image must not cut off any part of the product, and clothing in adult sizes must be shown on a model.

Tips for product photos that cut out cleanly

  • Use contrast. A light product on a light counter, or a dark product on a dark cloth, is the hardest case for any cutout. A plain backdrop in a clearly different tone gives the cleanest edges.
  • Shoot the product on its own. The model keeps whatever looks like the main subject, so props, other products or clutter next to the product can end up in the cutout. Clear them out of the frame.
  • Light it evenly. Soft light from a window or two lamps avoids hard shadows, which can be read as part of the product.
  • Leave space around the product. Keep the whole product in frame with a margin on every side, so nothing is cut off when it is centered.
  • Shoot large. A photo of 2,000 px or more on the longest side can be exported at marketplace sizes without enlarging it.
  • Keep it sharp. Blurry edges give blurry cutouts, so focus on the product, not the background.
  • Check fine details. Laces, straps, fringes and small gaps, such as the inside of a handle, are the parts most likely to need a second look. Drag the comparison slider over them before you download.

Glass, clear plastic and very shiny products are hard for automatic cutouts because the background shows through them or reflects in them. Check those results closely.

When you need more than a white background

A white background covers the main image. The other images in a listing, your store banners and your ads usually work better with a scene or a person in them. CamClo AI's paid tools cover those:

  • Change Background replaces the background with a new one you describe in a short text prompt, such as a marble counter in soft window light or a plain studio backdrop.
  • Remove Background runs in the cloud, so it does not depend on your device, and adds a brush to erase or restore parts of the cutout. It downloads as a transparent PNG or on white.
  • AI product photography turns flat-lay and product shots of clothing, accessories and jewelry into on-model photos, with no photoshoot to book.

How the tool works, and why your photo stays private

The background is removed by an AI model trained to separate the main subject of a photo from its background. It runs inside your browser tab: on your graphics card when the browser supports it, and on your processor when it does not.

Your photo is read, processed and exported on your device. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and there is no watermark or usage limit. The only downloads are the model and its runtime, about 100 MB the first time, fetched from Hugging Face and jsDelivr and then kept in your browser's cache.

The model works on a 512 x 512 px copy of your photo, and the tool scales its cutout back to your photo's full size. That keeps it fast enough for a browser, but very fine detail such as hair or thin straps can come out softer than from a cloud tool that works at a higher resolution.

Want a scene instead of plain white?

CamClo AI's Change Background puts the same product photo into a new background you describe in a few words, such as a marble counter or a sunlit studio. 7-day free trial with 20 credits.

Questions

How do I make a photo background white for free?

Add the photo to the white background maker on this page and select Remove background. The tool cuts out the product in your browser, places it on pure white (#FFFFFF) and lets you download a JPG from 1,000 to 3,000 px. There is no sign-up, watermark or usage limit.

Is the white background exactly RGB 255, 255, 255?

Yes. The white option fills the canvas with #FFFFFF, which is RGB 255, 255, 255, the pure white Amazon asks for on main images. Only the product and its soft edge are different. If you turn on the drop shadow, the pixels under the product become light gray.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The AI model runs inside your browser tab, so the photo is processed on your device and never sent to a server. The only downloads are the model and its runtime, which your browser saves for next time.

Why does the first photo take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the AI model and its runtime, about 100 MB in total, and saves them. After that, a photo takes a few seconds on a computer with WebGPU, and up to a minute on older devices that run the model on the processor.

What size should a product photo be for Amazon?

Amazon accepts 500 to 10,000 px on the longest side and recommends 1,000 px or more, which enables zoom. The main image should show the product as 85% of the image on a pure white background. The tool's Amazon preset makes a white 2,000 px square with 85% fill.

Can I download a transparent PNG instead?

Yes. Choose Transparent as the background, or use Also download transparent PNG. Google Merchant Center accepts transparent backgrounds, but Amazon and Walmart main images need white, so use the white JPG for those.
