What AI can do for an online store
Most of the value comes from a handful of jobs that repeat every week. This guide takes them in this order:
- Product photos: clean backgrounds, retouching and resizing for each marketplace.
- On-model images: a garment or accessory on a model, without booking a shoot.
- Video and ads: a product photo turned into a video or a finished ad.
- Running ads: launching campaigns, moving budget and pausing weak ads.
- Customer support: order status, returns and product questions.
- Product copy: titles and descriptions for every listing.
- Email and SMS: segments, flows and send times.
- Analytics: which channel and which ad drove each sale.
AI does the repetitive part of each job. You still decide the offer, the prices and the brand, and you check what it produces before it goes live.
Best overall for content and ads
1. CamClo AI
Best for: product photos, on-model images, video ads and running ads in one placeCamClo AI is an AI studio for online stores that covers the content and advertising side of the business: product photos, on-model images, product videos, image and video ads, and an agent that runs Meta and Google campaigns. Everything starts from your own product photo, so the product in every image, video and ad is the one you sell.
- Product photos: remove or change backgrounds, erase unwanted objects, upscale to 4K, and edit a photo by typing what you want changed. For upscaling alone, see our AI image upscaler comparison.
- On-model images: turn a flat lay into an on-model photo, put a garment, shoe or piece of jewelry on a model with Virtual Try-On, swap the model while the garment stays the same, and generate new poses for a catalogue.
- Video: turn a product image into a video with leading models such as Seedance 2.5 (up to 30 seconds), Google Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0.
- Ads: image ads at 1 credit per image, from a product photo or a product link, sized for placements such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest and Google Display. Video ads come in 15 formats, including UGC, Unboxing, Product Demo and ASMR, with the script written for you, at 480p to 1080p and 4 to 30 seconds; an 8-second 720p video ad costs 11 credits on the default model. Remix Ads rebuild a proven ad around your product, up to 90 seconds.
- Running ads: Ad Autopilot plans, creates and launches Meta and Google Ads campaigns, publishes them paused so you choose when they go live, then watches results and proposes or makes changes within the spend limits and approval settings you set. Management is 80 credits every 30 days per campaign, or 3 credits for each day the agent works on pay as you go. Ad spend is paid to Meta or Google.
- Bulk jobs: the AI assistant for bulk product photo edits takes a job in one chat message, for one product or up to 500 images, and shows the plan and its credit cost for you to approve before it runs.
- Pricing: plans from $49 per month with 150 credits. There is a 7-day free trial with 20 credits.
Strengths
- One place for photos, on-model images, video, ads and the campaigns that run them
- Starts from your product photo, so the product on screen is the one you sell
- Ad formats, scripts and placement sizes built in, not just raw images or clips
- An agent that launches and manages Meta and Google campaigns within your limits
- Bulk jobs of up to 500 images, with the cost shown before anything runs
Limits
- Can seem a little expensive next to a single photo or video tool, but the credits cover the whole job, from the on-model photo to the finished ad sized for each placement, not just a raw output
See the AI product photography tool that turns flat lays into on-model photos, the UGC video ad maker that starts from one product photo, and Ad Autopilot, the AI agent for Meta and Google ads.
Product photos and on-model images
CamClo AI covers both jobs, as above. If all you need is fast cutouts and clean backgrounds for listings, a lighter photo editor may be enough. For the full picture of shooting, editing and sizing product photos, see our guide to ecommerce product photography, and for on-model tools specifically, our comparison of AI fashion model generators.
2. Photoroom
Best for: quick product photo edits on web and mobilePhotoroom is an AI photo editor for product images. Its core tools remove backgrounds, retouch, fix product details, add preset shadows, fill and expand images, and enhance quality. Its plans also offer AI Backgrounds and AI Fashion Models.
- Pricing: Photoroom's pricing page shows prices in the visitor's local currency, and its FAQ says the monthly credit amount can vary by country, so for US dollar prices see vendor site. Plans are Pro, Max, Ultra and Enterprise; Pro, Max and Ultra each come with a monthly pool of AI credits and exports (1,000 exports a month on Pro), and Enterprise is custom. Video Generator and the Shopify integration start on Max; 4K output is on Ultra.
- Free: Photoroom's help center says free accounts are for personal, non-commercial use only. Pro and Max start with a free trial.
Strengths
- Fast background removal and cleanup
- Batch editing, and a Shopify integration from Max
- Works on web and mobile
Limits
- The free account cannot be used for commercial work
- Monthly export caps on Pro, Max and Ultra
- No video on Pro, and no ad formats or campaigns
Pick this instead of CamClo AI if you mostly need quick cutouts, clean backgrounds and resized images for listings, often from your phone. Our Photoroom pricing guide covers its plans in detail.
Product video
CamClo AI makes product videos and finished video ads from a photo. If you film your own footage or want to direct cinematic shots by hand, a general video studio fits better. Our comparison of AI video ad generators covers more options.
3. Runway
Best for: generating and editing video with fine controlRunway is an AI video studio. Its Gen-4.5 model generates video clips, and Aleph 2.0 edits footage you already have. Runway says Aleph 2.0 can swap a product for a new colorway, change the lighting or remove distractions on real footage, on clips up to 30 seconds at 1080p, on all paid plans.
- Pricing: Standard is $15/month, or $12/month billed yearly, with 625 credits a month, which Runway puts at 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 video. Pro is $35/month with 2,250 credits.
- Free: 125 one-time credits.
Strengths
- Edits real footage, including product shoots
- Several video and image models in one plan
- No watermarks on paid plans
Limits
- 625 credits cover under a minute of Gen-4.5 video a month
- A general creative tool, with no product ad formats or scripts
Pick this instead of CamClo AI if you shoot your own video and want to edit it with AI, or you want to direct each shot yourself. See our Runway pricing guide for what the credits buy.
Running Meta and Google ads
Making ads is half the job. The other half is launching them, watching the numbers and moving budget every day. CamClo AI's Ad Autopilot does that work: it builds a plan from your site and goal, creates the ads, launches the campaign paused for your review, then proposes or makes changes within the limits and approval settings you set.
If you would rather run campaigns yourself, both ad platforms have their own automation. Meta says its Advantage+ campaigns apply AI to a campaign's audience, placements and budget. Google describes Performance Max as a goal-based campaign type that reaches all Google Ads inventory, including YouTube, Search, Display, Gmail and Maps, from one campaign. You still supply the creative and make the calls on strategy and spend. Our guide to AI media buyers goes deeper on the agent tools.

Basic is $60/month, or $50/month billed yearly, for 300 tickets. AI Agent interactions cost $1.00 each on monthly plans, $0.90 on annual contracts and $1.50 above a plan's allowance, and each one also counts as a ticket.

Strengths
- Predictive AI built on your own customer data
- Email, SMS and automated flows in one place

How we checked
We started from what ranks: the tools named most often in Google's top results and AI Overviews for "AI tools for ecommerce", grouped by the job each one does. We then read each vendor's official pricing, product and help pages, saved screenshots of the pricing pages we could reach, and recorded the entry paid plan, the free option and what the price includes.
Where a vendor showed prices only in local currency (Photoroom and Shopify) or only after a sales call (Triple Whale), we wrote "see vendor site" instead of guessing. CamClo AI's details come from its own product configuration. We did not run a scored benchmark, so there are no quality scores on this page. Test a tool on your own products before you commit.
How to choose AI tools for your store
- Start with your most expensive job. If photoshoots or ad creative eat the budget, start there. If support tickets eat the week, start with support.
- Check it fits your platform. Some tools only work on Shopify; others connect to any store or help desk.
- Price the output, not the plan. Credits, tickets, profiles and AI interactions are all metered. Work out what one finished photo, ad, ticket or email costs at your volume.
- Keep a person on anything customers see. Check product details, prices and policy answers before they go live.
- Count the logins. One tool that covers several jobs means fewer subscriptions and fewer hand-offs between apps.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best AI tools for ecommerce?
It depends on the job. For product photos, on-model images, video ads and running Meta and Google ads, CamClo AI covers all four in one place. For customer support, Tidio suits small stores and Gorgias suits growing brands. For product copy, Shopify Sidekick comes with Shopify plans and Jasper keeps copy on-brand at scale. Klaviyo leads for email and SMS, and Triple Whale for analytics and attribution.
How can AI be used in ecommerce?
Online stores use AI to edit product photos and put products on models, turn photos into videos and ads, launch and adjust ad campaigns, answer customer questions, write product descriptions, personalise email and SMS, and show which channel drove each sale. The AI does the repetitive work; you still set the offer and prices and check what goes live.
Are there free AI tools for ecommerce?
Yes, with limits. Klaviyo is free up to 250 active profiles, Tidio has a free plan with 50 one-time Lyro AI conversations, Triple Whale has a free plan, Runway gives 125 one-time credits, and Shopify Sidekick comes with any Shopify plan. Photoroom's free account is for personal use only. CamClo AI has a 7-day free trial with 20 credits.
Can AI build me an ecommerce store?
It can do much of the setup. Shopify's Sidekick, included with Shopify plans, can create a store design from a description, write product descriptions and help set up your domain. You still choose the products, prices, shipping and policies, and you should check everything it writes before you launch.
Which AI agents are best for ecommerce support?
For small stores, Tidio's Lyro answers common questions from your FAQs and website and hands over to a person when needed, with 50 free conversations to start. For growing brands, Gorgias includes an AI Agent on every plan, billed at $1.00 per automated interaction on monthly plans. Both work best when your help articles and return policy are up to date.
Can AI run my Facebook and Google ads?
Yes. CamClo AI's Ad Autopilot plans, creates and launches Meta and Google Ads campaigns, publishes them paused for your review, then proposes or makes changes within the limits you set. Meta's Advantage+ and Google's Performance Max also automate parts of a campaign inside each platform, but you still supply the creative and make the calls on strategy and spend.
