A Google Ads AI agent is software that reads your ad account, decides what to change and makes the change, usually after you approve it. Google's own is Ask Advisor, a beta agent inside Google Ads that can pause campaigns, change daily budgets and locations, update final URLs and appeal disapproved ads once you say yes. Third-party agents start at $49 a month and add campaign planning, ad creation, hard spending limits and work across many campaigns or platforms.
We read Google's own help pages and every vendor's own pricing page. Here is how we compared them.
What a Google Ads AI agent is
Google Ads has used machine learning for years, so it helps to separate three things that all get called "AI":
- Automation inside a campaign. Smart Bidding sets a bid in every auction, and Performance Max decides where your ads show. You set the goal, Google's AI works toward it, but only inside that one campaign.
- An assistant. It answers questions, explains a drop in conversions and suggests fixes. You make the changes.
- An agent. It looks across the account, decides what should change, and then makes the change: with your approval, or on its own within limits you set. Some agents also plan and launch new campaigns and make the ads.
So the useful question is what a tool may change, and who checks it first.
Google's own AI for Google Ads in 2026
At Google Marketing Live, Google introduced Ask Advisor as one agent across Google Ads, Analytics, Merchant Center and Google Marketing Platform, and announced AI Max for Shopping campaigns.
Google added AI insights cards and prompt-built dashboards to Google Ads, with Ask Advisor in beta for English-language accounts.
Ask Advisor can make changes to your account, but only after you approve them. Google says it is rolling out more capabilities for managing Google Ads accounts.
| Google feature | What it does | What it can change | Your control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ask Advisor (beta) | A Gemini-built agent in Google Ads that answers account questions, builds reports, troubleshoots performance and policy issues, and suggests keywords and new text and image assets | Pauses campaigns, changes daily budgets and targeted locations, renames campaigns, updates final URLs, appeals disapproved ads | Asks for your approval first. English-language accounts only; not in manager (MCC) accounts |
| Performance Max | A goal-based campaign type that reaches YouTube, Display, Search, Discover, Gmail and Maps from one campaign | Bids in each auction, moves budget toward the best-performing inventory, combines your text, images and videos into ads | Conversion goals, ROAS or CPA targets, audience signals, negative keywords, brand exclusions, search themes |
| AI Max for Search | A set of targeting and creative features for Search campaigns | Which searches your ads match, the headline and description text shown, and the landing page used (final URL expansion) | You choose whether to turn it on |
| Demand Gen | Image and video campaigns on YouTube (including Shorts), Discover, Gmail, Maps and the Google Display Network | Combines your visuals, messages and placements; reaches new people through lookalike segments | Bidding goal, audiences, A/B experiments |
| Smart Bidding | Bid strategies that use Google AI to set a bid in every auction | Your bids, under Target CPA, Target ROAS, Maximize conversions or Maximize conversion value | The strategy, the target and the budget |
| Google Ads MCP server | An open-source bridge that lets an AI assistant query your account in plain language | Nothing: Google's docs say it is read-only and cannot modify bids, pause campaigns or create new assets | You set it up with your own credentials |
From Google's help center, Google Ads API docs and Google's blog. Google lists no separate fee for these features; you pay for the ads you run. Google says advertisers that activate AI Max typically see 14% more conversions or conversion value at a similar CPA or ROAS; that is Google's own figure.
Ask Advisor is Google's own Google Ads AI agent. It sits in the top-right corner of Google Ads for eligible accounts and also in Analytics, Merchant Center and Google Marketing Platform, where Google's separate advisors are now all called Ask Advisor. Google's example prompts include "Why did my branded campaign's clicks decrease?", "Help me generate some images for my new Performance Max campaign" and "Update daily budget of campaign C to $10." When a prompt means a change to your account, Ask Advisor asks for your approval before it acts.
To point ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini at your account yourself, Google's Google Ads MCP server is the official route. It lets an assistant list your accounts and run Google Ads Query Language searches, but it cannot change anything.
Where Google's AI stops and third-party agents start
Google's tools are included with Google Ads and keep getting better, so start there. A third-party agent earns its fee when you need something Google's tools do not do:
- Work on a schedule. Ask Advisor works in a chat panel, and each change waits for your approval there. A third-party agent can review every campaign on a schedule, then queue the changes for approval or make the routine ones within your limits.
- Decisions across campaigns. Performance Max and Smart Bidding optimize inside one campaign. Splitting budget between campaigns, cutting wasteful search terms and testing new ads sit outside them.
- Limits on the agent itself. Spend caps it cannot raise, a maximum size for each budget step, and campaigns you mark as off-limits.
- Manager accounts. Ask Advisor is not available in MCC accounts, which is where agencies work.
- Other platforms. Google's AI runs Google Ads. Most third-party agents also run Meta and other ad platforms from the same place.
- The ads themselves. Performance Max and Demand Gen need text, images and ideally video. Google's AI can generate some assets, and some agents write the text and make the images for you.

The agents, tool by tool
Each entry covers what the tool does in Google Ads, its price, its strengths and limits, and when to pick it instead of CamClo AI.
1. CamClo AI
Best for: planning, creating and running Google Ads campaigns end to endCamClo AI's Ad Autopilot is an AI agent for Google Ads and Meta. It starts from your website and the result you want, builds a campaign plan for you to review, writes and makes the ads, and publishes the campaign paused. Then it watches the results and proposes or makes the next change within the limits you set. Because it lives inside CamClo AI's ad studio, the system that runs the campaign also makes fresh ads when the old ones tire.
- Google campaign types: Search (one non-brand campaign, with or without a brand campaign), Performance Max and Demand Gen.
- The ads: responsive search ads with up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions. For Performance Max and Demand Gen, it writes the headlines, long headlines and descriptions and makes the images in landscape, square and portrait sizes (plus vertical for Demand Gen) from your product photos or your own uploads. Video slots take a YouTube video you add. Merchant Center product feeds for Performance Max are coming soon.
- Before anything spends: campaigns publish paused. Turning one on first checks that the landing page loads, conversion tracking suits the bid strategy, billing is set up, a new account starts on a capped budget, and every ad has been through a policy check.
- What the agent changes: budgets (increases in steps of 20% or less, at least 24 hours apart) and bid targets; pausing and resuming campaigns, ad groups and ads; turning search terms into negative keywords or new keywords; Performance Max asset groups and search themes; moving budget between campaigns and seasonal adjustments; Google Ads experiments; fresh assets when ads tire. Location and audience changes always wait for your approval. Which actions apply depends on the campaign type and on the account being ready.
- Control: Observe (it only recommends), Co-pilot (you approve each change, the default) or Autopilot (routine actions run within your limits), with daily and monthly spend caps. Experiments run for at least 14 days, and a test without enough data ends as inconclusive instead of naming a winner.
- Access: Ad Autopilot is in beta, and you request access in the app. Campaign chat for Google Ads is coming soon; it is live for Meta.
- Pricing: plans from $49 per month with 150 credits. Managing a campaign costs 80 credits every 30 days, or 3 credits for each day the agent works on pay as you go, and a Search campaign with its brand campaign counts as one. Making the ads is quoted in credits before anything is generated, and Google bills your ad spend directly. The 7-day free trial includes 20 credits.
Strengths
- Plans the campaign, makes the ads and runs it, in one system
- Publishes paused and checks tracking, billing and ad policy before any spend
- Budget moves in small steps, with spend caps enforced in code
- Search, Performance Max and Demand Gen, plus Meta, in one workspace
- Flat credit pricing, never a percentage of ad spend
Limits
- Can seem a little expensive next to a single optimization tool, but the credits cover the campaign plan, the ads and the daily management, not just alerts or suggestions
See the controls, the approval modes and a sample decision trail on the Ad Autopilot page, the AI agent for Google and Meta ads.
2. Optmyzr
Best for: PPC teams that want rules plus an AI assistantOptmyzr is a PPC management platform for Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and Amazon Ads, with Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok tools too. Optmyzr's homepage promises "No changes without your approval, ever."
- Pricing: Essentials is $299/month on monthly billing for up to $25K of monthly ad spend and 25 accounts; Premium is $389/month with unlimited accounts. Prices rise with ad spend. Annual billing normally saves 30%, and a first-year offer for sign-ups by September 30, 2026 brought Essentials to $164/month on annual billing.
- AI: the Sidekick assistant on Essentials; Premium adds an MCP connection for Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools.
- Free: a 14-day free trial, no credit card required.
Strengths
- A deep toolkit for Search, Shopping and Performance Max

Best for: Google-only recommendations you apply yourselfOpteo monitors Google Ads accounts for statistically significant patterns and, when it finds one, suggests an "Improvement" that you can push live to Google Ads in a few seconds. It also sends alerts, including Slack messages, and builds branded reports.
- Pricing: Basic is $129/month for 10 accounts and up to $25,000 of monthly spend, with a 24-hour refresh. Professional is $249/month and Agency $499/month; Enterprise is custom. Yearly billing gets a two-month discount.

5. Ryze AI
Best for: hands-off optimization at a flat feeRyze AI sells autonomous agents for paid ads, SEO and websites. Its Paid Ads Autopilot covers Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and more, and Ryze says its round-the-clock audits and bid and budget optimization are executed, not just suggested. It also analyses and rotates creatives before fatigue sets in and flags wasted spend.
- Pricing: Paid Ads Autopilot is $89/month, the same whatever you spend on ads, or $71.20/month billed yearly. The done-for-you Ecom Autopilot is $1,499/month.
- Free: a 7-day free trial, and Ryze lists a money-back guarantee.

- Google Ads is one of several ad platforms in a wider ads, SEO and website product
- Done-for-you help moves you to the $1,499 plan
Pick this instead of CamClo AI if your campaigns and ads already exist and you want an agent to keep tuning them for a fixed monthly fee.
6. Markifact
Best for: building and auditing campaigns in chatMarkifact is an AI platform for marketing agents, workflows and MCP. Its Google Ads agent works in chat: it can build Search campaign drafts, structure ad groups, generate keyword lists and write responsive search ads, and handle audits, search term reviews, budget updates and reports. Markifact says nothing goes live without you: launches, budget changes and keyword updates are reviewed in chat or in Slack. You can use OpenAI, Google Gemini, Claude or other models.
- Pricing: Pro is $79/month with 2,000 credits and one seat; Team starts at $249/month with 10,000 credits and 10 seats. Annual billing gives two months free.
- Free: the pricing page lists no free tier or trial.
Strengths
- Every launch and change waits for your approval
- Pick the AI model, or bring your own API keys
- Unlimited ad accounts, hosted in the EU
Limits
- Agent credits depend on the AI model and the size of each task, so a month's usage is hard to predict up front
- Its Google Ads page names Search campaigns; other campaign types are not spelled out
Pick this instead of CamClo AI if you want to build and audit campaigns by chatting, with the AI model of your choice.
7. Hyper
Best for: marketing agents beyond adsHyper is a platform of AI marketing agents that connect to your tools and do the work across paid ads, social posts, SEO and reporting. Launching campaigns and changing budgets need your approval by default, and each action can be set to run on its own, need approval or be turned off.
- Pricing: Starter is $0 for 7 days, then $49/month, with 5 AI agents and 5,000 credits a month. Pro is $99/month and Business $299/month. Annual billing saves 17%.

How we compared them
We read Google's help center, Google Ads API docs and blog for Google's own features, and each vendor's own pricing and product pages, saving screenshots of the pages we quote. For every tool we recorded the entry price in US dollars on monthly billing, the free option, how changes reach your account (suggested, approved or automatic) and the other ad platforms it covers. Where a vendor does not publish something, we say so rather than guess.
The tools are the ones that appear in Google's current results and the ranking roundups for this search. We did not run a scored test, so there are no performance scores here; results depend more on your conversion tracking, offer and budget than on the tool.
How to choose a Google Ads AI agent
- Fix conversion tracking first. Every agent, Google's included, optimizes toward the conversions it can see. With broken tracking, a smarter agent just spends faster in the wrong direction.
- Decide how much it may do alone. Suggest only, approve each change, or act within limits. Start with approvals and loosen them once the decisions have earned your trust.
- Look for hard limits. Daily and monthly spend caps, a cap on each budget step and campaigns it must never touch matter more than a long feature list.
- Check who makes the ads. Performance Max and Demand Gen need text, images and ideally video. An agent that only moves bids leaves the creative to you; see our guide to ad creative that sells for what to feed it.
- Match the pricing to your spend. Optmyzr, Opteo and Adalysis cost more as your ad spend or account count grows. Ryze charges one flat fee, and CamClo AI charges flat credits per managed campaign.
- Agencies: check manager accounts. Ask Advisor is not available in MCC accounts, while Optmyzr, Opteo and Adalysis are built for many accounts.

Frequently asked questions
Does Google have an AI agent for Google Ads?
Yes. Ask Advisor is Google's own agent, built with Gemini and in beta. It sits in the top-right corner of Google Ads for eligible English-language accounts, answers questions about your account, suggests keywords and new text and image assets, and, once you approve, can pause campaigns, change daily budgets and targeted locations, update final URLs and appeal disapproved ads. It is not available in manager (MCC) accounts.
Is Google's AI agent for Google Ads free?
Google lists no separate fee for Ask Advisor, Performance Max, AI Max or Smart Bidding. They are part of Google Ads, and you pay for the ads you run. Third-party agents charge a subscription: the entry plans we checked run from $49 a month (CamClo AI, and Hyper after its 7-day trial) to $299 a month (Optmyzr Essentials on monthly billing, for up to $25K of monthly ad spend).
Can AI run my Google Ads campaigns?
Much of the day-to-day work, yes. Google's Smart Bidding and Performance Max already set bids and choose placements inside a campaign, and agents such as CamClo AI's Ad Autopilot can plan, launch and adjust whole campaigns. Keep a person on the big calls: most agents, Ask Advisor included, ask before they change anything, and the safest setups cap daily and monthly spend. Fix conversion tracking first, because every agent optimizes toward the conversions it can see.
Which AI tool is best for Google Ads?
It depends on the job. To plan, create and run Search, Performance Max and Demand Gen campaigns with the ads made for you, CamClo AI. For quick questions and small changes inside one account, Google's Ask Advisor. For rules plus an AI assistant across many accounts, Optmyzr. For Google-only recommendations you apply yourself, Opteo. For audits and ad testing, Adalysis. For hands-off optimization at a flat fee, Ryze AI. For building campaigns in chat with your choice of AI model, Markifact.
Is Performance Max an AI agent?
Not in the usual sense. Performance Max is a campaign type: Google's AI sets bids, moves budget between YouTube, Search, Display, Discover, Gmail and Maps, and combines your assets into ads, all inside one campaign and toward the goal you set. It does not plan your account, create new campaigns or decide how much to spend. An agent works a level above that, reading the whole account and deciding what to change.
Can I connect ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to Google Ads?
Yes. Google publishes an open-source Google Ads MCP server that lets an AI assistant query your account in plain language, but it is read-only: Google's docs say it cannot modify bids, pause campaigns or create new assets. Optmyzr (on Premium), Adalysis and Markifact also offer MCP connections to their own tools.
