In 2026, product photography costs $39 per image at soona and from $50 at Squareshot, two online studios that publish their prices; Squareshot's on-model images start at $95, or $220 for an outfit's first angle with one of its models, and a US freelance photographer booked through Snappr costs $89 to $169 for the first hour. AI is far cheaper per image: on CamClo AI's $49 Creator plan with 150 credits, an on-model photo made from a flat lay costs about $0.33 to $0.98, and there is a 7-day free trial with 20 credits.

Most guides quote averages without a source. This one uses the rate cards that studios and platforms publish themselves, shows what each price includes, and prices a 50-SKU catalogue five different ways.

Every price below comes from the provider's own pricing page or help center, in US dollars. Here is how we checked.

What changes the price of a product photo

  • The shot type. A packshot on white is the cheapest image to buy. Squareshot starts product shots at $50 and model shots at $95, and its own example shots are priced from $50 to $225 per image.
  • People on set. Models, stylists and hair and makeup are usually billed on top. At soona they start at $159 an hour for a full-body model, $149 an hour for a stylist and $299 per model for hair and makeup.
  • The product. Shopify's guide notes that highly reflective products are harder to capture and that complex setups need more prep time, both of which raise the price.
  • Retouching. Included in Squareshot's price; at soona each $39 photo includes one touch-up, and premium edits cost $9 and up unless you are on the Standard membership.
  • Usage rights. Squareshot includes 6 months for recognizable model images; longer terms are an add-on. soona says its models come with unlimited usage.
  • Deadlines. Shopify puts rush fees at 25% to 200% of the job. Squareshot charges 25% to 50% more per image for faster delivery.
  • Minimums and fees. Squareshot has a $300 minimum on pay-as-you-go product shoots, soona charges $149 per booking without a membership, and Snappr adds a 15% service fee.

Product photography pricing, provider by provider

Each entry covers what you pay for, what the price includes and when to pick it instead of CamClo AI.

1. CamClo AI

Best for: on-model photos and extra poses from your own product photos

CamClo AI is an AI studio for ecommerce teams. You upload a photo you already have, such as a flat lay or a product on a table, and it makes the images you would otherwise book a shoot for: an on-model photo of the garment, new poses of that model in the same outfit, or the product on a clean or styled background. It works with clothing, accessories and jewelry. You pay in credits per image, with no booking or minimum order.

What you make Tool Credits per image On Creator ($49, 150 credits)
On-model photo from a flat lay Product Photography 1 (Fast, 1K) to 3 (Quality, 4K) About $0.33 to $0.98
New pose, same model and outfit Catalogue Studio 0.5 standard; 1 in Pro at 1K or 2K; 2 in Pro at 4K About $0.16 to $0.65
Garment on your own model photo Virtual Try-On 1 to 3 About $0.33 to $0.98
New background, white or styled Change Background 0.5 About $0.16
Cut-out on a transparent background Remove Background 0.5 About $0.16

Credit costs on paid plans. Catalogue Studio adds 1 credit per batch when the AI picks the poses for you. Studio plans start at $99 a month for 330 credits and go up to 5,000 credits for $999, where a credit works out to about $0.20.

Product Photography: a flat-lay outfit turned into an on-model photo.
Catalogue Studio turning one photo of a model in a white t-shirt and green cargo trousers into twelve new catalogue poses in the same outfit
Catalogue Studio: one model photo in, up to 12 new poses of the same model and outfit out.

Strengths

  • Starts from your own product photo, so the garment is the one you sell
  • On-model photos, extra poses and new backgrounds in one place
  • Sizes for product pages and social, from 1:1 and 4:5 to 9:16
  • No booking, shipping or minimum order; pay per image

Limits

  • Can seem a little expensive next to a single-purpose photo app, but the credits cover on-model photos, new poses and backgrounds in one workflow, not just a raw cutout

See how the AI product photography tool that puts a flat lay on a model works, or use the Catalogue Studio pose generator to turn one model photo into a full set of catalogue angles.

2. soona

Best for: a one-off studio shoot with no subscription

soona is a remote product photo and video studio. You ship your products, join the shoot online, approve shots as they are taken, then buy only the images you want.

  • Pricing: $39 per photo and $93 per video clip, plus a $149 studio pass per booking. The Basic membership ($13 a month, billed annually) and the Standard membership ($49 a month, billed annually) remove the studio pass; Standard also takes 10% off models and styling and makes premium edits free.
  • What the studio pass covers: the platform, soona's backdrops, lifestyle spaces and props, simple steaming and assembly, and return handling.
  • Editing: each $39 photo includes one touch-up; premium edits such as a pure white background or a transparent cut-out cost $9 and up.
  • AI: soona's AI Studio is included, with 10 generations on the studio pass, 20 a month on Basic and 84 a month on Standard.
soona pricing page showing the $149 studio pass, Basic membership at $13 a month and Standard at $49 a month billed annually, each with a price per photo of $39

Strengths

  • Real photos of your physical product
  • You only pay for the images you choose
  • Models and stylists bookable by the hour

Limits

  • Model, stylist and hair and makeup costs sit on top of $39 per photo
  • You ship products to the studio and wait for the shoot date
  • soona does not publish how many shots fit in an hour

Pick this instead of CamClo AI if you need real photographs of the physical product for a launch and want to buy image by image, without a subscription.

3. Squareshot

Best for: studio shoots with the model and crew included

Squareshot is a US product photo studio that works from a written brief. Its per-image prices include retouching and revisions, and its model prices include the studio, the crew and the model.

  • Product shoots: from $50 per image, or $750 for a 2-hour shoot. Pay-as-you-go orders have a $300 minimum.
  • Model shoots: from $95 per image, or $2,950 for a 4-hour shoot. Full per-outfit prices are in the model shoot section below.
  • Add-ons: steaming $3 per item, transparent background $3 per image, product recoloring $20 per image, and 25% to 50% more for faster delivery.
  • Memberships: one-time yearly payments of $480, $2,340 or $7,500 that take 10%, 20% or 30% off product images and 5%, 10% or 15% off model images, and remove the product minimum.
  • AI visuals: from $95 per image, or $975 for a 5-image campaign, made by Squareshot's team.

Strengths

  • Retouching and revisions included in the image price
  • Model prices include the studio, crew, hair and makeup and a stylist
  • Clear per-image and per-hour prices

Limits

  • Minimum orders on pay-as-you-go product shoots and on all model shoots
  • Model usage runs 6 months unless you pay to extend it
  • The highest per-image prices of the providers here

Pick this instead of CamClo AI if you want a studio to handle casting, styling, hair and makeup and retouching for a real shoot at a known price per image.

4. Snappr

Best for: a vetted photographer at your own location

Snappr is a booking platform for freelance photographers, with fixed prices in each country instead of quotes. Its ecommerce and product shoots cover packshots on white, lifestyle sets and marketplace crops, and its fashion shoots cover on-model sets and flat lays.

  • Pricing (US rates): Value is $89 for the first hour, $169 for two hours and $70 for each hour after that, with a set number of edited photos. All-inclusive is $169, $279 and $110 an hour after that, with every photo from the shoot edited.
  • What the first hour covers: the photographer, the equipment, travel inside the metro area and the editing. Photos arrive within 48 hours.
  • Fees: 15% on pay-as-you-go bookings, 9% on the Pro plan ($49 a year) and none on Enterprise.
  • Market rates: Snappr's page compares itself with a market low of $139 an hour and a market high of $300 an hour. Those are Snappr's own figures, and we could not confirm them.

Snappr's US price ladder.

Strengths

  • Fixed prices, the same in every city of a country
  • The hourly rate falls as the shoot gets longer
  • The photographer comes to you, useful for large items

Limits

  • No model, stylist or studio fees listed; you arrange those
  • How many shots fit in an hour depends on your products
  • A 15% fee unless you join Pro

Pick this instead of CamClo AI if you need real photos taken in your shop, warehouse or showroom, or of products too large to ship.

5. Nightjar

Best for: AI lifestyle and catalogue sets at a low credit price

Nightjar is an AI product photography tool. It takes product photos, uploads or product links and makes lifestyle scenes, on-model images and whole photoshoots in one style across a catalogue.

  • Pricing: paid plans start at $25 a month for 150 credits. A 1K or 2K image costs 1 credit and a 4K image 2 credits, so the entry plan covers up to 150 images at 2K.
  • Free: 6 credits with no card required.
  • Also: higher-volume plans, whose prices are not listed, and API access on every paid plan.

Strengths

  • A low price per image at 2K
  • Built for consistent sets across many products
  • API access from the first paid plan

Limits

  • Prices for the higher-volume plans are not public
  • You still supply a clear photo of each product

Pick this instead of CamClo AI if your main need is large batches of AI lifestyle scenes in one look, with API access from the entry plan.

Omi also ranks in searches for product photography cost. It builds 3D digital twins of products for consumer brands and does not publish prices. Shopify's guide publishes no rate card either, but gives the planning ranges quoted above.

Model shoot costs: model, stylist and studio

On-model images cost more because you pay for people and time, not only for the photographer. The two studios that publish model prices charge in different ways: soona adds each person by the hour, and Squareshot folds everyone into a price per outfit.

Line item soona Squareshot
Model Full body from $159/hour Included: $220 for an outfit's first angle and $110 for each extra angle
Your own model Not listed $170 first angle; each extra angle $85 in the pricing update, $87.50 in a newer help article; plus what you pay the model
Hands or feet only Hands from $79/hour; feet $99/hour $150 per image, or $95 with your own model
Stylist From $149/hour; ghost mannequin styling $129/hour Included
Hair and makeup $299 per model Included
Studio and photographer $149 studio pass (free with a membership) and $39 per photo Included
Usage rights Royalty-free models, unlimited usage (soona's wording) 6 months for recognizable images; 12 months, 24 months or perpetuity as an add-on
Minimum None listed 5 outfits and 20 images

soona's rates are starting prices at retail; Standard members get 10% off. Squareshot's per-outfit prices took effect on 22 December 2025.

If you book a freelancer instead, you hire the model, stylist, hair and makeup artist and any studio yourself. Shopify's guide says model fees vary widely with the model's experience and agency representation, and that specialists such as food stylists charge from a few hundred dollars to $2,000 a day. Squareshot's per-hour model shoots start at 4 hours and include 6 to 24 retouched images for a half day and 12 to 48 for a full day, a useful yardstick for how many finished images a day of shooting produces.

AI product photography cost

AI tools charge per image, in credits, and on the published plans of CamClo AI and Nightjar an image costs well under $1. Studios sell AI work too, at studio prices: Squareshot's team makes AI visuals from $95 per image, and soona includes a set number of AI Studio generations in its memberships. The catch with every AI route is the input, not the price: it starts from a clear photo of your real product, and someone has to check each output for changed prints, logos, colors or fit before it goes live.

AI works best on the images you need many of: extra poses, new backgrounds and on-model shots for every SKU. For the first photo of each product, a phone and a plain background are often enough. Our guides to flat lay photography and ghost mannequin AI cover how to shoot the source images, and our comparison of AI fashion model generators goes deeper on the on-model tools.

Product photography cost for a 50-SKU catalogue

Here is one catalogue priced five ways. It has 50 clothing and accessory SKUs, and each needs 2 product shots on white (front and back) and 2 on-model shots (two angles of the same outfit): 200 images in all.

Route How it adds up Total Per image
CamClo AI 100 new backgrounds on your own photos (50 credits), 50 on-model photos (50 to 100 credits) and 50 extra poses (25 credits): 125 to 175 credits $49 on Creator (Fast, 1K), or $99 on Studio (330 credits) at Balanced 2K, with credits left for retries About $0.25 to $0.50
soona 200 photos at $39 ($7,800), $149 studio pass, and one 8-hour day of a full-body model ($1,272) and stylist ($1,192), plus hair and makeup ($299) $10,712 About $53.56
Squareshot 100 product images at $50 ($5,000) and 50 outfits at $220 plus $110 ($16,500), with studio, crew and retouching included $21,500 ($20,655 with the $480 Starter membership) About $107.50
Snappr Two 8-hour All-inclusive days at $939 each, plus the 15% fee $2,159.70, plus the model, stylist and studio you hire About $10.80 before those costs
Nightjar 200 images at 1 credit each: two months of the 150-credit plan $50 About $0.25

Arithmetic on the prices published. Assumptions: the soona model shots fit in one 8-hour day, which soona does not publish; the Snappr shoot takes two full days; Squareshot bills these products at its $50 starting rate, which is higher for some categories. soona premium edits, such as a pure white background at $9 and up per photo, are not included. The AI totals exclude retries and assume you take the source photos yourself. Shipping, props and your own time are not included anywhere.

For scale, the same 200 images at Shopify's planning range of $50 to $350 per finished image would cost $10,000 to $70,000. The studio routes buy you a real shoot, handled end to end. The AI routes cost one or two dollars per SKU instead, but only once you have a usable photo of every product.

Many sellers mix the two: a studio or freelancer for the hero shots of a new collection, then AI for the extra poses and background variants. If you sell on Amazon, check its image rules first; our guide to Amazon product photography walks through them, and the ecommerce product photography guide covers the full set of shots a product page needs.

How to lower your product photography cost

  • Shoot the easy images yourself. Packshots on a plain background are the cheapest to make at home and the easiest to clean up with a background changer.
  • Group shots by outfit. At Squareshot, each extra angle of the same outfit costs half the first one.
  • Book longer blocks. Snappr's hourly rate falls after the first hour, so one long booking costs less than several short ones.
  • Avoid rush fees. They add 25% to 200% on Shopify's figures and 25% to 50% at Squareshot.
  • Check usage terms before you run ads. A model image licensed for 6 months may need an extension for a long campaign.
  • Use AI for volume, not only for price. New poses and backgrounds for every SKU are where a per-image price under $1 saves the most. Our look at what AI try-on saves on photoshoots works through the numbers for fashion.

How we checked

We read each provider's official pricing page and help center, recorded the US dollar prices, and saved screenshots of the pages we could load. Nightjar has no separate pricing page (its /pricing address leads to the homepage), so its figures come from the pricing answer in its homepage FAQ, and there is no screenshot of them. Where a provider does not publish a number, such as soona's shots per hour, Snappr's model fees, Nightjar's higher plans or any Omi price, we say so instead of estimating. The 50-SKU example is arithmetic on those published prices, with every assumption stated under the table. CamClo AI's credit costs come from the app's own pricing tables. We did not commission test shoots, so there are no quality scores on this page.
